BTW hows skype over that ?? I just looked at a lovely house but its a bit remote and I dont know about phone ADSL.. CAT would be a possible option but then I heard skype has a bit of an echo / delay due to higher ping times ??

Skype (for me at least here in Kamala) over CDMA is fine. (Code Division Multiple Access as opposed to what I was brought up on in the Army, TDMA) It is EV-DO at 3G.

Wikipedia: Thailand. CDMA2000-1xRTT service and is in process of deploying EV-DO in 25 provinces. CAT Telecom is currently in the final phase of implementing an EV-DO network in the remaining provinces of Thailand. They plan to join forces and co-market a nationwide EV-DO service under a single brand, which has yet to be decided. FYI!!!

The coverage is patchy on the Island however, Yupa, the lady at the CAT office is very helpful and quite switched on. She explained the expansion and expense!! going on, in particular around BKK.

Six of us now at 'The Club' using it, she came over with the three models of modem they have and gave a demo of each.

I went for the CCU-650 with un-limited usage. Speeds and connectivity are good in and around Kamala. The transmitter is up near your gaff Sef! 55555

Should it go, I'm sure there will be an alternative offered.
