A few questions
1: How far from Karon beach roundabout to Bangla road ( best way to get there and back)

If you like a good drink, play safe and use a tuk tuk. About 10/15mins drive and around 250/300 baht each way.

You can use your own mobile if its been unlocked. Costs around £10 -15 here so cheaper than buying a thai mobile.Just buy a thai sim card. But if you want a cheap thai phone, you can get them from Ocean Plaza in Bangla Rd on the ground floor to the left side of the shop.
Thai sims /top ups can be obtained easily from many locations. the 7/11 stores are favourite.

Tipping is not expected, but its nice to show appreciation for a nice meal or good service. The hotel maids also welcome any spare change you might have when you leave.
How much? Up 2 you really, for a meal 20 - 100baht depending on the type of restaurant. Its not a lot, but helps the poorly paid staff.
