If all tourists starts avoid Phuket then there will be really bad for us.
I'm quite sure the tourists won't avoid Phuket, but I think it's for the better that new tourists don't arrive before the whole situation is stabilized.
The worst thing that can happen in the aftermath of any large-scale accident or disaster, is that non-professionals get into the mix and in effect confusing the matter even more. This is of course not to be confused with volunteers helping out in an coordinated effort. The key word being "coordinated."
If you have booked a trip to Thailand, support them by choosing another destination in the kingdom until the authorities give the all-clear for tourists to return to the affected regions. That's my opinion anyway.
