in bkk in the early morning i watched the security guard from outside a hotel cross the road to help a monk try out the new shoes he wanted to purchase, the girls working the stall could not do it.
no physical contact between a monk and a woman is how i understood the rules.
mind you, follow the local gossip and there is always a naughty monk somewhere breaking that rule, as the mrs says, "some monks are monk to make money"
