Deputy Mayor You-rat Sukmaibum appeared and released a statement to the Press saying that the proposals would be put on hold as a significant increase in the current budget was condsidered necessary to cover anticipated Police and hospital staff overtime should the new system be introduced.
A reporter asked the Deputy Mayor if any measures were being taken to curb the increase in road rage incidents around Patong since the introduction of the one-way system. Khun Sukmaibum said he recently had viewed some clips on YouTube and was very impressed with the dancing policeman, Tony LePore in Rhode Island
YouTube - The Dancing Cop in downtown Providence (zoomOUT) and he was pleased to announce that all Kathu policemen would be attending dance lessons at Simon Cabaret and will in future dance while directing traffic at all road intersections. Furthermore, as an additional calming influence to drivers and riders, he announced that soft music "like what you hear in massage salons", will be played over the Patong PA system continuously.
