Health Checks ?

The UK Govenrment are going to offer free health checks to over 40s.
I think it's about time I have one as I'm mid 40s and a Dad now...

But a couple of mates of mine, heavy smokers and HEAVY drinkers, both got glowing reports back saying no probs at all from Phuket Hospitals.

Just wondered if anbody had had a health check (here or elsewhere) and actually been diagnosed with a problem!

Cheers,
Sleesy.

FREE health MOTs are to be offered to everyone aged between 40 and 74 in a bid to improve the nation's health.

The check-ups will feature tests to screen for common conditions affecting the elderly and middle-aged, such as heart disease and diabetes.

The programme could prevent up to 9,500 heart attacks and strokes every year and save 2,000 lives, health secretary Alan Johnson announced yesterday. It could also prevent 4,000 people a year from developing diabetes.

Everyone tested will receive a personal assessment report detailing their level of risk of developing certain conditions, and what they can do to reduce it.

The first check-ups are expected to be offered in 2009/10, and the Department of Health estimates that the annual cost will be about £250 million.
