A tip for getting taxis from the hotel in central BKK to the airport, don't ask Reception or the Concierge, talk to some of the staff (bell boy, barman etc). They always know someone has drives a taxi and you can get them to arrange for you to be taken to the airport. This always works for me and I usually give the staff member 50/60baht.

no you are right Diz....you can go up to departures and get a meterd taxi who will be happy to take you back into town on a meter....well except if he gets his windscreen crackede by the airport mafia in doing so....

arivals is where I was talking about...at the offficial desk...they are now asking 400bht + tolls there...no option of meter
