It's a big country and I guess those that had a bad experience of the locals in the cities experienced what you can expect in many large cities anywhere! People in a rush to be somewhere, with someone etc and because you are not the focus of attention feel put out a little. Try a Paris restaurant!
I enjoyed the diversity of the place. For me it isn't like Japan, Thailand, Vietnam. It is Korea and has a personality all of it's own.
I was teaching there. Eighteen year olds finishing their English papers before possible entry into University. Thier punctuation was far better than mine. I didn't get the chance to explore as much as I wanted. I had to do thirty one hour lessons per week and each lesson takes an hour of preparation (If done properly) hence a sixty hour week.
In all, I enjoyed the place, would definately go again at some point, maybe next time to chill out and see a little more of the place.
