I just completed an 8 page (small font) manual for installation of some software for a new product. The manual includes a screen capture of every step along with detailed instructions.
After finishing it, I wondered how many actually would read it, so I also created a one page "I-Don’t-Want-to-Read-the-Manual" Manual. Got perhaps a little carried away trying to be funny, but I am including it with the product nonetheless. A copy of that manual is attached below (identifying information substituted). The top quarter and the bottom quarter is the more interesting part (if you don't want to read all that either).
The question here is, however, "To what extend do you read the manuals that come with the (software) product you buy?"
