I have been to the Blue Elephant. In my opinion it is an overpriced tourist restaurant with just average Thai food. I once invited a Thai family there and felt like an idiot with all the obvious tourist decor.

Best food you can get is the food places along the riverside in Bangkok that's where the middle class Thais go.
