Masterwoodsman, in answer to your question, the prick that should have been taking it got himself sent off 4mins from time, so I would imagine that JT (as captain) put himself up for it.
He sent the keeper the wrong way but hit the post with his shot. That was the 3rd time since half time that Chelsea were denied by the woodwork. Other than Anelka it was down to drawing short straws on who took the rest of them. If it was not JT it could have been anyone.
Avram Grant made a very good substitution to bring on Belettie just before the end as he was a seasond penalty taker and showed it when he took his shot.
Just another point, when Chelsea went to collect their medals Drogba was not with the team then or on the pitch after the game. Was this due to the fact that he had been sent off, that he was not able to take part in the medal ceremony.
I know that you are not allowed to sit on the bench after you are sent off, but am not sure whether the law extends to the medal presentation.
Only other thing I can think of is that Roman already had him packed of to Siberia for a spot of hard labour and time to reflect on his actions.
