Hate to pile on here, but I think the consensus is in.... don't do it! Look, if you want to go to Patts and have a great time, do it. If you want to get laid on super tight budget, stay home and look around. My council would be this, based on many adventures and travels (but none to Thailand until this February myself!): You only go around once in this life. You may never get to Thailand again. Spend as much money as it takes to have fun without hogtying yourself, and trust to the fates that it will be ok. In other words, loosen up on the purse strings. I've found that one thing in life that is infallible is that when I start worrying about money and hoarding and scrimping, money becomes very tight. When I let go and spend, money returns my way. I don't know how to explain it but I did hear a friend talk about this once, she said that the money gods favor those who trust in them rather than fear them. I think she's right. If you want to have fun, go and spend like there is no tomorrow. I hate to say it (I'm 47 myself) but at 53, there MAY BE no tomorrow! What are you saving your money for?
If you can't hang with that advice good luck. Maybe I could buy you a dinner in Pattaya in February.
