Apparently you can "bid" for seats but I have never come across anyone who has actually bought tickets this way. For example if the current price is £430 (as per Dawsey's comment) and you bid £300 for the same ticket and then wait to see if you are successful or not.

try ebookers.com - I checked this morning and you could still get a return flight to BKK for £385 (Thai Intl - tax incl.).
I have used priceline.co.uk but not in the last 2-3 years - it's pretty good however one of the downsides is that you can't choose the airline. Therefore if they book you on Aeroflot for example (just to name a dodgy airline) you can't do anything about it.... apart from praying that is
