LivinLOS I believe if your mother and yourself are born in the UK you can gain citizenship.. IIRC even with you only being born there it is possible..
Well worth it having dual nationalities.. Tho an irish passport is safer to travel if going through middle eastern countries.. I may have some Libyan contract work and have been advised that using an irish passport would be safer if i have to transit within the region.

I have been here in Tripoli 6 1/2 years with my UK PP ....having an Irish PP is the least of yer worries mate
