I am coming to Thailand in a few weeks and will be meeting the 15yo daughter of my girlfriend who's birthday it happens to be that weekend.
What would be an appropriate birthday gift. I ask this question on another forum and got the following replys:

Mobile Phone - 10K+ baht(nokia with camera/video etc)
1 baht gold - 8K+ baht
ipod/mp3 player - 10K+ baht

I am not a tight git but these seem a little excessive to me. Obviously I want to make a good impression and not come across as a tight git or a rich farang fool. Although the farang fool bit is true.

Any opinions?
