I always stay around Soi Lengkee and Soi Dianna Inn, near Soi Bua Khao.
Lots of new and very clean places to stay starting from 450 baht a night( or 10000 baht per month) for big aircon-room with big fridge, cable TV(60 channels), hot & cold water shower and balcony, but no swimming pool. If you need that I'd recommend Areca Lodge or Opey de Place for under 1000 baht a night. Siam Sawasdee also has pool, but is an old crappy hotel, not worth the money!
