On my first trip I ended up with two girls at a dentist in Bangkok. One of them wanted a bracelet and they asked me if I wanted to come along to the dentist. It was suppose to be a real good one and was recommended to them by a family member. I decided to just go along with them. We took a taxi to some centre part of Bangkok and we walked around for about an hour asking lots of locals, where this notorious dentist shop was. In the end we found it in a narrow dead end alley with small shops and market stalls. The roof of this alley was made out of iron plates to keep the rain out.

The shops did not have doors or windows. Actually the shops were more like concrete rooms with no front walls. One of these concrete rooms was suppose to be the dentistshop. Half way this room the dentist put up a paperscreen wall. The front part of the room was the waiting room and the back part was the practice room. As I entered I could see some feet of a customer lying in a chair behind this paperscreen.

After ten minutes an old smiling lady with only one front tooth left, came out from behind the screen. This was the customer by the way and not the dentist The two girls were asked to join the dentist behind the screen.

While I was waiting on a stool I watched two Thai guys working hard on the roof of the alley. They were busy hammering on the iron roofplates. One of these guys was holding a ladder, while the other guy was trying to balance himself on this ladder reaching out to the roof. He made a hell of a noise to hammer the plates into shape. The guy who was supposed to hold the ladder, came into the dentistshop now and then to grab some water from behind the counter for his mate to drink.

When I looked the other way beside the paper screen I could see the two girls. One of them was lying in a chair, while the other one was sitting and smiling on a seat next to her holding her hand. The dentist I could not see. I could only see the hands of the dentist using force on some large plyers to tighten up the bracelet in my friends mouth. Twisting and turning her head. As the dentist finished with the plyers, they were put on a side table next to the dentist chair.

A few minutes later this Thai roofguy walked into the shop again looking for something. This time it was not water, but he needed something else. He dissapeared behind the screen as well and moments later appeared again with the large plyers in his hands. He gave me a friendly nodd as he past me and handed over the plyers to his mate balancing on the ladder. I could see his mate putting his full bodyweight on the plyers to bend the iron plates into the shape he wanted.

This all took less than a few minutes and moments later the pair of plyers was lying on the dentist table again.

Most interesting and very enjoyable to watch ........
