Good advice, Kiwi. Been there also. Didn't get stung, but only escaped by sheer luck.
Keep up with the emails or phone calls to her, Herman. Usually, they will butter you up for a few weeks with the talk of how much they miss you, how much they care for you, how they have no one to take care of them, etc.
But after about a month, then usually comes the sad story of how they are not making enough money, sick relative, lost job at the bar, don't want to sleep with men anymore, etc.
This is accompanied by a request for financial assistance.
Here is a typical example: "I have to pay for my room in two days but I don't have enough money and please help me. I feel very shy to tell you this but I don't know what can I do really and I know you're very kind person also you I think you can help me. But I will pay you back very soon. And I hope that you will help me."
That is excerpted from a real letter. This is what you can expect. If you don't get these kinds of requests for money, then you may really be onto something with a good girl who is sincere.
