Hey all,
Great forum; I've learned a lot from perusing!
I've a few questions, mostly related to where I'm staying when I visit next month. I went ahead and booked a room at the new Marriot up north of Patong........I'm thinking now that was not such a good move as it's pretty far from the action and I've actually tried to cancel, but they are not being cool with that. So, with that said, am I screwed in terms of expensive taxi rides to get into Patong? Other options available? Also, I've read elsewhere that they're guest friendly and I've booked at the double occupancy rate, so I'm hoping that I don't have a problem; basically does anyone have any insight into the Marriot situation. It looks like a nice place, but I'm afraid I'll be bored. I'm also wanting to get cerified to scuba; any recommendations? I've heard South Siam divers is pretty good.....
This is my first trip to Thailand and I'm pretty psyched. I'm travelling solo so if anyone wants to hook up for a beer and give me some pointers, I'd be a buying. I'm living and working in Sri Lanka right now, which is pretty cool in it's own right.
