If you do try some GoGo girls..especially in Bangkok and Pattaya, you will avoid most starfishes by choosing only those girls who really come across as friendly to you personally. Some will seem disinterested, on and off stage, that's usually a very good clue.

As for how many girls in a bar ?
Beer bars can be anything from 8-10 up to 20-30 depending on where you are talking about, pattaya has beer bars with as many as 30 on the books, the bars are larger than the usual kind of size.
