What one person loves for a book, another can hate.
I find the type of book I read is often tied into what is happening in my life. If work is technically challenging, I like a rather simple book. If work is boring or quiet, I like a heavy technical book. If I am on vacation, I tend to like a mystery or historical book. And a book about philosophy can be read on all occasions.
Some starter suggestions (but I think most the book readers on this thread have encountered these books already):
a. Christopher Moore's "Calvino" series of books.
b. Christopher Robbin's "Air America" and also "The Ravens".
c. Edwin Lefevre's "Reminiscences of a Stock Operator" (a favourite old "classic" of mine).
