There are 2 genetic eye colors, brown an blue. (green and other colors come from mutating/nonfuktional/enzym malfunktions and so on)
Brown i dominant. (So if you have one brown gene and one blue, youre eyes become brown)
But if mother and father have one brown gene and one blue, both will have brown eyes, but 25% of there offspring will have blue eyes.
(One must also remember that around 30% of womens first born offspring (acording to some studys) in western countrys have and impossible blodtype, acording to the registerd father. So one menny mothers know more about the reason for eyecolur then the father.
