And could someone please explain why after all this time and 'warning systems' talk you still cant subscribe to an SMS alert on all of the major phone networks ???

So simple.. So effective...

As to the warnins its Bart Simpson paradox (damned if you do and damned if you dont).. Without a doubt this will have another effect on the starting to slightly recover local economy.. However of course warning must be made for such a close location and possibility..

A Tsunami can come not necessary due to the large strength of the quake but due to the movements of the sea floor.. It seems like we are now in a hot zone for siesmic activity.. Other countries live with this threat regularly.. Now we do..

Much more chance of getting hurt in the panic fleeing packed roads is my guess..
