It's a "buddy" movie about drinking all night, partying like there's no tomorrow, and chasing/hooking up with fine ladies!! That's "Wedding Crashers." It's a BM kind of movie if ever there was one!
The buddies are Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughan, and they're both in top form in this flick. It's well-written, well-produced, and has some gorgeous ladies in it, too. As buddy movies go, it's a classic of the genre. No Oscar nominations here, but tons of laughs as the age-old problems of what's the best strategy, what's the best pick-up line/technique, and what are the duties of the wingman, are studied in this doctoral dissertation on scamming chicks.
But, as we all know, in the life of a skirt-chaser, the biggest challenge, the day of reckoning, is not about scoring with the finest tail. It's about what do you do when your heart starts beating too fast over one particular girl. That's a conundrum that every red-blooded BM either has or will have to tackle some where along the party trail. How do our heroes handle this predicament? Well, I don't want to spoil the movie for ya!!
A nice performance in a supporting role by Christopher Walken of "Deer Hunter' fame(am I the only one old enough to remember that classic film of war insanity in Viet Nam?).
And an absolutely hilarious cameo turn by Will Farrell. When he pops up on the screen, after a perfect set-up, the whole theater bursts out with raucus uncontrollable laughter in one of the year's funniest scenes. And he turns in a couple more excellent scenes, as well, before he is finished.
This one rates high on the laughometer, and has a little food for thought thrown into the mix, as an added bonus. Three and a quarter stars out of four possible. And I don't often rate comedies that high, even though I enjoy quite a few of them.
If you need a good laugh, then don't miss this one. You won't be sorry as your $9.50, plus $6.00 for popcorn(giant size w/ free refill) and $6.00 for a soda will be well spent. Figure what you spent on gas to drive to the cinema and you're out about $25.00. Unfortunately, but it's true, that's the best you can get for a 1000 Baht without going to LOS!!!
