Had a good time but didn't rate Samui compared to Phuket, Chaweng everything was so spaced apart, its one really long road and we had a bike, Lamai was more like the soi's in bangla with quite a few tasty bg's, went and toured the whole island on the bike so that was quite nice but my overall opinion is I prefer Patong and mainly because most of the bars and clubs are all within easy walking distance along Bangla. The sea and beach are better in Samui and really liked the beach restaurants at night for the odd romantic meal before going out with tirak. Don't think it is an age thing although can understand as some of the clubs had lot younger people in than perhaps tai pan or tiger. Can't remember the name of the island just off Samui but tirak wants me to take her there for few days on my next tour, so perhaps i'll go back and reassess but for now my votes Patong.
