Thanks for all the input guys. I think because it's going to be a bit hit-and-run this time, and my first time back to Patong for years (don't ask how many ) I'll go for something central. Although I do appreciate your comments about 'real' LivinLOS, maybe when I have a longer stay.

If I have any further queries, I'll post an update. In the meantime, looking forward to meeting some BM's. Of all the forums I'm on, this is by far the most user-friendly.
