It's not about feelings; it's about them sticking a glass in your face or cutting your cokc off while you are asleep.
I once met a girl from the Alice bar and when she found out I was in town and had not told her I was coming it got very ugly. Well, we made friends again and I let her stay the night, when we got up in the morning I found the knife she had brought to cut me. You might be big and tough but you are pretty defenceless when you are asleep.
If this girl had been a bit more hardened to the scene I have no doubt she would have done me while I was asleep. It was my fault, I was pretty green at the time, because I failed to respect her and made her look pretty dumb in front of her friends.
Only my experience, but what I learned from that little episode is this: you do not want angry Thai women in your life, and you should never, ever underestimate the concept of 'face'.
