Hmm... I know them both fairly well.. Been up and nakid in the pool a few times...
Paul used to knock Debs about and this wasnt the first time.. If you can repeatedly 'accidentally' knock your old lady about then ok I agree he didnt intend to kill her.. Though by that definition I think almost all crime of passion murders are accidental (eg regretted)...
