You just push your pants down to your knees, or ankles if you are more comfortable with that, then if there is any doubt whether they are in your way, grab them with your hand and pull them forward and well out of the way. I don't mind the squat toilets at all. The only thing about them is that I always worry that when I pull the pants down, that the pockets will turn upside down and my wallet or keys, change, etc. will end up in the toilet. Actually, that has never happened, but every time I use one, I am always paranoid that it will!!
Here's a tip! Get a Thai massage every day, more or less, for two or 3 weeks. It improves your flexibility so much, that squatting on the old squatter becomes a cinch!!
