ranong visa run
I do my visa runs every 30 days to Ranong. I get on a big double decker bus called the "Executive gold class visa run" which I believe is the easiest and cheapest option. It is 1500 baht all inclusive of food, water, coffee, boat to burma, $5us, etc. The only cheaper options are 1100 or 1200 baht to spend the 12 hours cramped into a minivan. Yeah it takes a day but at least it is very comfortable and hassle free. Plus you usually meet a few like minded people on the trip. You spend 20 minutes in Kaw Thaung, Burma where you can purchase cheap cigarettes (150 baht/carton), alcohol, and viagra. There are free transfers from patong or you can meet the bus at 7am outside Big C. It runs every day except thues and thurs.
Singapore - fare to Sing are very cheap now especially with Tiger Airways, but still have to pay the taxes which in this time of rising fuel costs is often more than the airfare. Also with the flight schedules on Tiger you have to stay the night.
