It is a difficult debate, and maybe like I said, a bit too politically for this board.

First at all, let me say that I don't want under any circonstances, a gun in my house! I know of a lot of accidents caused by just having it. Children finding it, just an act of depression, getting mad and use it etc....

I have 2 lovely dogs. They play with my children, they are sweeter then most men I know. But....if anybody comes in they don't know (they got good memory), he will not go any further, withour our approval. Wich doesn't mean they would attack him blindely.

Burgalars avoid houses, where there are dogs, especially big ones. If they, don't bite, they are more efficient then an alarm!

I have mood-swings, like everybody knows and am in treatment for that. I know that it happened that I get so upset, that a gun nearby, would be a danger. That is also why I think that is very dangerous, how french police do ennoy some innocent people, just for the fun! They had, without any reason made me stop, only because i had a convertable, and ennoying me for one hour and a half, with my children stressed in the car! Now you can imagine somebody loosing it, and do a stupid thing and ruin many peoples lifes....

I was so stressed by this encounter, that I had to stop a bit further and let myself "cool off".

Now I can understand that if you are attacked, you feel safer with a gun. But if your attacker is more skilled then you, has a gun too, it could also make the situation even more dangerous for you! In a situation of agression, you are never safe, with or without gun.

Different it is for high risk situations! A jeweler, someone busy with a lot of money, transport of valuables, should be armed, but then it is part of their job, just like a typewriter for a writer!
