Why?
I wonder why the quality would degrade over time? Maybe the lens gets covered with dust?
Have you ever thought of using an old camcorder? One time my brother and I were trying to set up a video conference. I used a webcam and he used a video camcorder. My pictures looked terrible, his were great.
