The woman has a child.. She has to support that child.. She may well have liked you (your not especially old, you sound like you were nice to her, etc) but the number one fact is she needs money to survive.
What do we think.. Sounds like so many other Thailand stories.. The concepts of love, the issues of money, the relationship that has to trust, the motivations of all the players, it all mixes to create this great game... You either enjoy and understand it or you get eaten alive learning.
