I agree many people wouldnt worry about it especially on holiday.. then again many would benefit and personally I am all for anything that takes the TukTuks down a peg or two and opens the island up to free and fair competition..
My brother and GF came back from Bangla to my house on a Motocycle... Offered him 40 baht.. He got shirty wanted a 100 !!! They compromised with 60 baht and he really got angry..
My brother has been here 10's of times and his missus is just down from Udorn and she was shocked.. I went and tried to clear up with the guy no tourist price but by now he was raving and shouting in Thai (no one had been rude so far.. In fact everyone else was a bit confused.. 100 baht for a motorbike).. I was about to suggest just giving the idiot 80 baht to be rid of him as it was on my doorstep and I didnt need a fight when he snatched the 60 baht and waving his arms around shouting insults and threats he left..
They are just too cocky for thier own good..
