Next time I go to LOS, I'm gonna bring sum downtempo-type CDs. It didn't occur to me last time, but most bars are willing to play a few songs off any CD before realizing that it's not the carrot vitamin song and switching it off. I found a few bars playing good ol drumnbass mix CDs that the UK kids brought with em.
So you could at least bring some mixes, but I understand that doesn't lend itself to the groupie factor quite as well.
