2 years ago, I had booked a package with a travel agency in Belgium, so single room in a nice hotel in Kamala (Kamala Bay Terrace unfortunately closed after tsunami).
I asked them by email before my trip if there was a joiner fee, they said yes 1000 bath. I asked the tour operator if I could bring someone to my room, they said no way.
Well, during 2 weeks and half, I brought my BG to the room without using any of the hotel conveniences and never had problem. But I had not to pass in front of the reception desk to go to my room. Of course, sometimes, I saw the staff looking at us a bit strangly, but never a question except one night from a guard who asked my BG who she was and if she was a customer of the hotel... she just answered "why do you ask it? Don't you see I'm his GF?" and it was ok
