Salathai or Patong villa?
Ok guys, the question is for anyone who has stayed at both or knows both well, as a single guy travelling would you stay at the Salathai in a deluxe room or the patong villa in a bungalow? What would the pros and cons be for either? as the Salathai is quoting me 3600 baht ($120 aus) for the deluxe room and the patong villa is quoting 2200 ($73 aus) for the bungalow is the Salathai worht the extra 1400 baht ($47 aus)?
Things that are important to me are, 1: aircondintioning that works 2: girl friendly (no joiner) 3: confortable rooms 4: nice pool 5: helpfull staff any help gratefully accepted

Patong Villa
Likewise, I can't comment on the Salathai but I have stayed at Patong Villa a few times.
Everything you list as essential is there Planter. The staff are brilliant once you get to know them, about 2 minutes!!! Surasak, the owner, will normally answer any email questions you may have and will fix a price for you and stick to it. I paid 240 GBP for two weeks B&B in the bungalows at the far end of the pool. It was 205 GBP for one night at the Sheraton at Heathrow (My Company paid!) Breakfast wasn't included in that price!! 55555 Breakfast starts at 0630 hours which is great for grabbing a bite to eat on the way in! 555555  Close to the action! Up to you. I'll post a couple of pics Planter, I don't have any of the room though really without the obvious in them! Have an enjoyable holiday wherever you decide to stay and if it is PV then say Hi to the girls on reception, the cleaners, Sue at Chaidee, the lads on security. Oh! and give the tailor in the passageway a kick in the nads from me too! 5555555 And yes, DM, the one on the left!!

Currently @Salathai. Just finished a nice oil massage. I would say yes to all your questions, no prob w/guest just the ususal id thing. Moved from jintana which was not what i expected and very pleased w/ salathai. I'm in a junior suite but not really needed, reg. rooms just fine.
A few minute walk to bangla but no problem even for last nites' friend. Just pain in the ass tailors to navigate thru. jj

That's very funny Denver....
I agree with the rest of the bm's, I like the place...works for me. Everyone is very cool. What I did was my first day I stopped and talked to the bastard as I had the heads up from fellow bm's, I told the guy he would see me around but that I was broke and living off my gf, he never bothered us again...he was polite as everyone in the gauntet was to us for the rest of our stay. Have a great trip.
