Question Anyone stayed at these hotels????

Hi I'm a newbie and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm coming to LOS for my first trip in March 2006, for 1 month. I have looked at a lot of threads and have chosen hotels which I think are guest friendly. Could people confirm this and maybe suggest better hotels??? I'm flying to Bangkok, staying a couple of days for a sleep and some BG action!! Then going to Chaing Mai for a week for a bit of culture in the day and maybe some BG action at night. Then of to Phuket for some serious action and then to Ko Samui for a bit of relaxation and more BGs. So here's my plan for hotels any suggestions? Money no problem!

Bangkok: Nana Hotel- I know this is right in the action probably good for a couple of days or are there any nicer guest frienly hotels near?

Chaing Mai: Rydges Amora Hotel-looks pretty swish and I believe guest friendly?

Ko Samui (Lamai): Lamai wanta-nice sea view bungalows

Phuket (patong): A lot to choose from here-Horizon Beach resort looks good, but are there any bungalow type places by the beach? Guest friendly of course!!

Any help would be appreciated. If anyones around in March then I'll buy you a drink!!

Cheers

Horizon Beach (Patong) is not guest-friendly according to BMs who have stayed there.

I think Horizon Beach means that you can see the beach at the horizon.
Bungalows on the beach in Patong: I only know "Patong Beach Bungalows", which I doubt is resored allready after tsunami, and the more expensive "Phuket Cabana" which reopens 15 Dec.

I stayed at the Patong Merlin in Phuket. It was my first time visiting Thailand so i didnt want to skip on anything. Having said that, the Merlin is a nice 4 star place with just about everything you will need. Short walk to the action and across the road from the beach and nice staff too. The downside is the price. It was around 5000 baht a night.

However, on my next trip i will choose something cheaper. There is lots of decent places available if u look.

Everyone should stay at the Nana Hotel at least once, and probably your first visit is the best time to do so. I love the Nana Hotel. There are nicer places for sure, but you can't beat the location, and the atmosphere is also great. Very good breakfast buffet, and a nice new swimming pool.

I wouldn't want to spend more than 5-7 days there, but it is perfect for the first few days after arriving into BKK before heading elsewhere in Thailand, and the last few days before departing for home.

Book online here: http://www.nanahotel.co.th/html/

Cheers Paul

Think I will stay at Nana as I'm only there for 3 days.
