First timer...recommendations please
Dear all,
First time poster so please go easy on me
My partner and I are coming to Thailand on the 28th Nov for a 2 weeks (budget) holiday and need some recommendation for accomodation in phuket, krabi and bangkok. Here is some info:
Phuket - 6 nights
Location: patong beach, close to beach and central shopping
Essentials: aircon, clean, friendly, decent looking
Budget: up to 1500Baht/night
Krabi - 3 nights
Location: Ao Nang beach, close to beach and nightlife
Essentials: nice relaxing environment, romantic, good view
Budget: up to 2500Baht/night
Bangkok - 5 nights
Location: central to shopping, food (we love Thai food ), sky train.
Essentials: aircon, clean, friendly, decent looking
Budget: up to 1200 Baht/night
Also since we are such food lovers, we're trying to compile a list of where to go to find good traditional thai food in Patong and also Bangkok. We're not interested in fancy restaurants but rather small food stalls that have more traditional varieties. We do however want to visit a nice romantic restaurant while in Krabi. Please recommend.
I hope someone can help and thanks in advance.

Food choices are one thing you`ll never be short of in Patong.
Small stalls can be found nearly everywhere, and it`s fascinating to see a small eating stalls area spring up, faster than mushrooms after the rain, brought on motorbikes with trailers.
Eat at a popular place where the Thais eat, you can`t go wrong, and better food IMHO than the superoverpriced restraunts that cater for farang.

Hi Leseven, and welcome to the board.
I usually stay at the Nana hotel in Bangkok, but would not really reccommend it for couples. You will get lots of choice in that price reange tho, and I'm sure other BMs will point you right.
Patong, I would think somewhere like the Expat, E-mail: expat@loxinfo.co.th would fit the bill, though there will be others.
As far as food goes, you are visiting a gastronomic paradise, all the street stalls and noodle shops in Thailand will feed you for pennies. The food culture in Thailand is fantastic, and cheaper than Melbourne, enjoy.

In Bangkok take a look at the Indra Regent in the Pratuman shopping district, 2 block walk to sky train.
Have you spoken with your travel agent, you might be surprised at a package they can put together.

Most of the accomodations suggested by our agent were quite expensive compare to what I've found online at sites like sawadee.com and precisionreservation.
Any suggestion for Krabi? After having a second look at hotels in krabi, we've decided to up our budget to around 3000baht
Anyway, thanks to those who have replied and keep 'em coming guys.
Cheers.

I agree with steve on the Indra Regent...........under $AUS50 (buffet breakfast included) on most websites and 4.5 stars........the rooms are a little older and slightly faded compared to the newer 5 stars but the pool is great..........I haven't found much better value in BKK than here if you are looking for a near to top end hotel
Pratunam also has a great market just on the doorstep of the hotel

Hi guys,
Thanks for the help so far. I have now narrowed my choices to these:
Phuket - Deevana (Garden Wing room)
Krabi - Ao Nang Princeville resort
Bangkok - Bangkok Sahara
Can I please get some comments on these.
Thanks.

I can recommend the Princeville at Ao Nang beach in Krabi, on the central strip and across from beach, very pleasant and quiet. We got it for 1700 dble in Oct.I prefer Phukets beaches but.Pratnum area (Bkk) is central and a good market. there. See if you can make Chatuchak markets (skytrain northern end) on a weekend ( openonly w/ends) while in Bkk, tops! I like Salathai hotel in Patong best.
