Holiday Insurance
I've been looking for insurance cover for my 6 week trip after Christmas. The amounts quoted seem to be around £45. Has anybody got any recommendations regarding companies to use over the internet?

Depends on who I book my flights with, if I get my tickets through Opodo, then I usually get insurance from them. May as well get everything from same company, less hassle if there is any problems.Also, I usually get one year cover, cheaper for me than single trip.(3 trips this year).
If paying by credit card, some will automatically include insurance cover. If really stuck, you can pick up insurance at the airport , but usually very expensive.

Paid £51 for an annual cover but the cover only lasts for 30 days holiday at a time which is enough for me ... cant see it costing that much more to cover the 6 weeks of ur stay Barcardi73

My card company provides cover if I buy my tickets with the card. I have been warned about these policies so you might want to be careful, but each time I go I get them to send me a new policy document and it looks the biz.
For stand alone insurance try Trailfinders. I use the one in Manchester and they are really good, don't think you can do it on tinternet tho Gez, it might have to be the talkingbone!

Gez i have annual insurance with churchills (same as my car insurance and they were great when some twat pranged my motor)at a cost of £51 a year

yes it excludes America and Canada
it is up to 45 days in any one journey valid for one year only then normal rules i.e if your scuba diving you must me qualified and not exceed 30m etc etc

**** heads , I paid for me and a mate in July on my credit card then 2 days before we fly only my insurance turns up saying nothing to do with my mate, then I got put in hospital when in pattaya, sent them all the bills receipts 1 month later they send me a letter asking for for proof send them credit card bill because my hospital bill was not over £250 they couldn't help my bill was about £187. so the moral of this story is don't use insure and go DARBS

1 years travel insurance .who's best ?
iam going to phuket in January and was thinking ive not done any insurance
is there long term travel insurance and as anyone done this before, also do they ask for to see the documents at the airport as I cant remember

hi darbs, most insurance companys offer a one year multi-trip cover for about £70--00 for one person
read the small-print/exclusions though, as a lot arn,t all they are cracked up to be!

Interesting thread on the cost of insurance, it costs me about $150 aus pp for a 3 week holiday, so about roughly the same as english pounds. From my own experinece I traveled with a mate in Manila when his appendix burst, they would have left him for dead if not the fact he had insurance. I have also used it myself with food poisoning and got all med expenses refunded without any hassels.

i have a mastercard goldcard they cover it all the year throug automaticly
and hospitalcosts are covered by my healthinsurance if not more than dubble the prize in holland
