I have flown Emirates ex Glasgow a few times now and cannot fault them. In flight service, food is very good. My next trip, in December is also with Emirates. The prices have been very good as well, usually less than the rest such as KLM, China, Eva Air etc.

I flew Emirates (to Bangkok via Dubai) last year - excellent experience. Their on-flight entertainment is second to none... in my humble opinion of course

Have used Emirates a lot , was based in Dubai for a while , excellent airline. Usually about 3 hour stopover , enough to stretch your legs ,buy duty free or have a drink at the bar (Irish Village). Have also been upgraded a few times.

They're getting some stick just lately - the general feeling is that they've grown too big, too fast. The main complaint has been about snotty service from the cabin crew. But Emirates take these things quite seriously and apparently some very senior heads have rolled and they're trying to get back to their old excellent standard. On the planes that have it installed (which |I think now includes all the out of London flights) the new entertainment system is fantastic with 500 channels!!!!

generally it's fair to say that they're still pretty good all round. Check out www.airlinequality.com for passenger comments.

Emirates os a good airline and Dubai is not the worst deairport for a couple of hours stop-over, but not much more than that. They have generous extra baggage allowances for scuba gear.

According to all reports, Emirates are a great airline to fly as a passenger. But you wouldnt want to work for them, lots of internal problems with crewing.

Im flying to LOS with Emirates in 1 weeks time from Birmingham (Uk) via Dubai to Bangkok. Not only was it the cheapest flight from Brum that I could find on ALL of the the major Uk travel websites, but it also was the most convenient and 'quickest'. Ok, so I could have found a cheaper and quicker direct flight from London, but it would have cost me more and took longer for me me to get to London, so it has evened itself out.

I have also read many positive comments on this website (and others) about Emirates which helped towards my decision to choose them. I did a lot of reading on the net before booking my flight, and struggled to find a bad word about this airline. If you are flying from a regional UK airport, I think you will struggle to find a more convenient, cheap and recommended airline at the moment.

Also, I read on the www.airlinequality.com website that they won an award for the best inflight entertainment system last year which is always important on a boring long haul flight!

Norrad

Can you please tell me the price of this flight, it looks like i am going to struggle to get from Angola to Bkk within my budget if i go through london, so the jburg flight may be the way for me to go.

cheers

Simon

Most of the Thai flights , Bangkok - Phuket are showing up as full , I have a 6 hour wait on the 23rd December . But , what to do is , when you hit Bangkok Airport go to the "Stand-by /waitlist" desk and try to get on an earlier flight.

I will probably be O.K as I have a Thai ROP Gold Card which will put me to the top of the standby list.

Paul, i am entitled to a full fare economy return flight to my city of origin, which is aberdeen, i am unsure where they get the prices from but they always seem to pay more than i could get it for myself, when i was in Malabo i think is was around $3200 so from Luanda i think it will be a bit more, i have not asked yet so i will soon find out.
regardless what it costs i will be there within the next 6 weeks.

Simon

Gatwick - Bangkok

Emirates are running a promotion on their website at the moment for flights from London Gatwick to Bangkok.

Flights must be booked by 28th February but travel dates are pretty good.

Outbound flights 1st March - 6th April then 14th April - 30th June.

Blackout period over Easter holidays ( Bloody families with kids )

On line price is £439 , which is not bad , usually a couple of hours stop-over in Dubai , just enough time to stretch your legs and get some duty free.
