Club Bamboo Resort vs C&N Resort & Spa

Hi Guys...Just a bit of info required....I usually stay at the Patong Lodge and get this for 1100 a night on average....
Has anyone stayed at the above hotels??
Bamboo is 1900 Baht vs C&N 1400 Baht....
The pool is important to me and must have a real shower...not the shower in the bath tub(I find it hard to move around)...
Any coments are appreciated..

Hi Robo,

I have considered Club Bambo a couple of times myself so I went to visit it on one of my trips......but I didn't stay..........

It is quite a walk into Bangla and also quite a walk to the Beach......on the road over to Kata......

The rooms + facilities looked pretty good though.......nice small pool....and it is nice and secluded............definitely charges for joiner

Hi Robo,

I know quite well club bamboo. I can tell you that there is no joiner fee. Concerning the highlights/lowlights :

Highlights :
- Very good quality/price
- Rooms are nice and very clean
- Bungalows are available and affordable
- Small hotel ... means quiet (important for late wake up, swimming pool ...)
- Staff friendly, very very friendly especially female staff (you know what I mean)
- close by, a nice massage parlour ... ask for Joy.
- Close to Safari. At a walking distance (10/15 minutes)

Lowlights :
- Quite far from Bangla/Beach : need to take a Tuk Tuk at night (100 Bt) or a motorbike taxi (40 Bt). My advice for day time is to rent a motorbike, available at the hotel for 150 Bt
- Mini bar quite expensive ;-) Better to get the booze from 7/11.

I've stayed at Bamboo a couple times. Phone in my bungalo didn't work and took several days for them to fix. Some of the bottom bungalos are very close to the road and can be noisy (I don't mind). The swimming pool used to have a big fountain coming down, but wasn't working either time I've been there (Last visit was Tsunami week).

No hassles for my TG to visit me, don't know if there's a joiner fee for a BG or not. Staff was nice. Internet connection in the lobby. I thought is was a bit expensive for what it was. My favorite place to stay in Patong (area) is/was Nerntong (although the damn Muslim mosque next door really pissed me off with their stupid 5am prayer calls). But I understand the resort is no more.

If you're looking to be close to the night life, Bamboo is NOT for you.

Cheers

Thanks guys....Bamboo does look preety good from the photos.I will definately have a bike while I'm there.Love to ride out to Karon beach each day to soak up the sun, so proximaty to beach is not important...I just wanted to try another hotel and it is close to Safaree so when I finish at the end of each night, I dont have to ride home drunk or pay outrageous prices to the tuk tuk dudes...This was just walk it back.
My mates are staying at C&N Resort & Spa...and I would love to stay with them, but I will have my G/F from Tak in northern Thailand with me most of the time....so I didn't want to cramp there style....
Once again thanks for the info.

I have stayed at Club Bamboo many, many times, and I know for a fact that there is no joiner fee. They require you to leave your guests ID at the front Desk. As mentioned, the staff is very, very nice.

I like the place. Away from the noise and stench of Bangla, but, easy to get to it if need be:-)Literally three minutes by motorbike.

Last December there was no joiner fees, now perhaps they have changed. Last year they didn't even ask for my lady's ID, go figure.
I like Club Bamboo, no noise, no traffic, my only problem was my short little legs had trouble getting up into the "bedroom" in one of the bungalows. Nest time I will just get a regular room.

Welcome Lord_ Farquard , thought you must be a Newbie until I saw your join date . Still , good to see you on the board , sorry about the "short little legs" but there is definately no "heightism" in LOS , they're all the same lying down.

Right adjacent (next to anyway), Club Bamboo, is the Sunhill Hotel. Have been to both, and prefer the Sunhill. Very clean, quiet, friendly staff, and no joiner fees.

My favorite call in the morning, for room service..."Toi", in the restaurant/bar answers: "Good morning Paul. You ready for your coffee??? OK, a double cappucino with Baileys....Is "teerak" up? Shall I bring her tea, also?"

OUTSTANDING!!!

I no longer look for hotel's in Patong, as the Sunhill is now, "my home, away from home!"

Must be one of the partments or suites as I have been in the rooms (both kitchen equipped and plain room) and it was noth that size.. I thought the apartments were kind of private owned things but maybe they timeshare them out ??

The president suite (or whatever the big penthouse one is) at club bamboo is pretty slick also..

Only thing is these places really need to look at sorting some flat screen LCD or plasma TV and sounds.. In room music is vital to a high end joint these days IMHO..

Sefton,

(excuse the infomality, "LIVINGINLOS"...We've not met. But, looking forward to it, sometime)

You are correct. It is called an "apartment suite". Very nice. And, only 4 of them at this hotel. This one is, "number 1"! Because of the sweeping panorama, of Patong Bay, and Nanai Road area. (top floor, and north side)
The most comfortable stay, (4 week's) I've known in some time.

(from a guy, who has spent 1/2 of his life...away from home, in hotels.)

It may be, a "time share" apartment. No matter, it's always there for the asking. (except high season. Manager states, that they are booked (apartment suites), a year in advance, for New Years.) Going to try my bid in early, for next year.

It's really, not that expensive..when comparing price/value.

For the "soon-to-be-tour", I'll settle for the "junior suite". Still very nice, but not as much room. Manager say's, "Any cancellation, or other, (Paul), we'll move you (up), straight away." Great, and friendly staff!!!

Big Screen, Plasma TV would be great. But, other than an occasional "night off", (watching a TV / DVD movie, with GF...) my interest's, are not in the "boob-tube"

Music is GOOD, though!

The hotel is "storing" my survival gear, (motorbike helmet, STEREO SPEAKERS, personal items, sex toys, porn vid's, latex gear, cattle prod, various lubricants,--JUST KIDDING---the last few...until my return visit.)

"Sunhill...My home, away from home, in HKT."

(don't mean to sound like a commercial ad???) But...

More testimonial, on your request.

Pic 1. Nicke, Nathalie (cutie), and Ead.
Pic 2. Some of, the MTB "gang".
Pic 3. Entertaining Night, at Sunhilll....more MTB "gang".

P.S. A "real bonus"...teerak, is a GREAT cook!

Recommendation

Hi Guys..
Just spent 10 days at the C&N Resort and Spa and thought it was a great deal...
1500 B a night included breakfast...Staff were all excellent...
Not too far away from the action but just enough to give you a little breathing room...
Thanks for everyone's feedback..and may your holiday stay be memorable as mine.
