Patong Resort hotel?

Hi all,

Anyone has any comments for Patong Resort Hotel? I found a very good price for their standard garden wing room but from my understanding the garden wing is a bit old and run down. I'm actually having problem deciding between Patong Beach Lodge and Patong Resort with the latter being around $10 AUD more per night. Is it worth the extra money to stay in Patong Resort?

Hope someone can help.

Thanks

Wink hi leseven,

i dont know your circumstances butif you intend to take a "friend "back for the night ,the most important thing is ,whether its "guest" freindly or not!(apologies if you are with family/g/friend!)
also if you sray there over xmas and/or new year
you have to have the gala dinner at bht2500 a time
other than that i dont know much about the hotels
try a search ,using the search facility on here , you might find something-- cheers -- andy ps-pay a visit to the mai-tai bar in bangla road in soi(road) eric, where some of the b/members han out ,you will get the low-down on any questions you need awsering there
ask for nicke the mai tai bar owner

Talking

Hi Leseven,

I've stayed at the Patong Resort, in both the garden and pavilion wing, on a number of occasions. It is my preferred hotel as it is right in the centre of the action. Not sure of the joiner fee situation as I normally have my own female with me so I never have had that problem.

Although the pavilion wing is more modern than the garden wing, I don't like to stay there, as it is high rise and I like to keep my feet on the ground. I have never felt that the garden wing was dingy and anyway the last time I stayed there there were modernising it.

Another good thing about the resort is that it has two full size pools which is a plus for me as I normally swim laps for a couple of hours each day.

I have tried a number of the other hotels in Patong but I always regret staying in them as I prefer the big pools of the Patong Resort.

When I next return to patong I will again stay in the Patong Resort Garden Wing.

Thank you all for the input so far.

Guest-friendly is not important because I'm going with my partner. I will be there from 28th Nov to 14th Dec so Gala dinner is not an issue.

Thanks for the suggestion of Ramaburin Hotel, I will have a look.

Positive review from Setanta which is good.

Hope to get some more suggestions/opinions from other BMs.

Thanks

Hi les,,Patong resort stayed there twice 6 years and 3 years ago..I dont know your situation who your travelling with etc..yes they have a joiner fee a bit of a bummer.Ive been to patong many times since then and havent stayed there since, had a walk through there in october nothin changed much.2 big pools with no one in them..great location good rooms but just to big a hotel for me .IMHO travelling alone like I did I found it just to impersonel and boring and bgs are not relaxed there..But saying that if your travelling with a women they will probaly love it....saying that dont let me put you off Im sure you will have a great time where ever you stay
