Smile Malaysian Airlines

Hi All . . .

As far as I am concerned, Malaysian Airlines is my favorite option from NZ to Phuket. I have used them on several occasions, and only had one incident that pi**ed me off a bit, which they fixed on my return trip to NZ, by upgrading me to Business Class.

The incident was minor. We had no sooner taken-off from Auckland when they distributed their Dinner Menu.

Being in Economy Class there were only two choices, Chicken or Fish.
I selected Chicken, and was told that they had run-out, and it was Fish . . . or Fish!

I quietly told them what to do with their Fish, and they offered me whatever I wanted to drink instead. Stupidly, I chose Cointreau, and for most of the 12 hour trip to KL, they constantly topped me up (probably to keep me quiet).

Anyway on my return trip to NZ, I was relating this incident to one of the Malaysian Airlines managers at KLIA Airport, and he asked me to wait whilst he buggered around with my "Ticket on the Computer. To my surprise he upgraded me to Business Class and said he hoped my experience would not stop me using them again.

I have flown them on two occasions since!

Also, coming from NZ, they virtually throw-in the airfare from Wellington to Auckland, where the International flights leave from. . . And, because of the time the flights arrive in KL, they also give you a nights' accommodation in the rather nice KLIA Airport Hotel.

This is great, as the following morning, after breakfast (also included) you just have a flight of around 1 1/2 hours to Phuket.

Cheers

Pdm3

I had almost the same thing happen with Singapore Airlines, but a different outcome.

Sat at the rear in economy and the choice was the same, chicken or fish. No chicken by the time they get to me. No I don't want the fish .
What did I get? Bloody pot noodles . A brusque apology from the cabin staff and that was it.
That said ,Id still recommend them,a very good airline. Shame everyone wanted chicken that flight

I used Malaysian Airlines one time on te Rome-Phuket route with a stopover in Kuala Lumpur. Once inside the plane, the service was excellent and the food was great. There were private videos on each seat with movies and games.
Malaysian Airlines is one of my favorites and I would be happy to fly again with them.
They don't belong to a major airline partnership but if you're a member of Flying Blue (Air France - KLM), your miles account will be credited (I was member of Flying Dutchman and had no problems to get my full miles).
The only complaint is the lenght of the stopover in KL (4and 12 hours) but at least, on the return fliht,it gave me the opportunity to visit KL.
