Hi Dawsey,
Thanks for advice. I have emailed Patong Villa and they tell me there is a 300 baht joining fee per night. This has surprised me especially after what I have read on this forum. What does anyone think of this?

I have stayed there twice without them charging a joiner fee. If I were you I would write them back that you dont understand this because the friends that recommended you Patong Villa told you that there was no joinerfee. I'm sure you can get them to rethink their position on this.

This was the answer to my email in response to a polite question to Patong Villa about joiner fees and getting a lift from the airport. My be worth you getting back to them and asking again. Print off your response and take it with you for checking against your final bill.
Hope this is of use.
Thank you for your reply.
We are pleased to provide the transfer to pick you up.
Please exit from the Phuket Airport building where you will see the driver holding a sign bearing your name ' Mr Denver'
Have a wonderful day.
Seeing you at airport.
As your requested, we are pleased to tell you that we no charging for a joiner fee.
Thank you
Surasak

I emailed Patong Villa, saying a 'friend'had stayed there with no joiner fee. Their reply was instant ' Ok no joiner fee'.
Ok they only asked for 300 bt per night, but ill spend that in the minibar instead or their restaurant.

OK thats good. Just make sure to print off the email and produce it when its time to pay the bill if you are charged a guest fee.

Just got back a week ago after spending 3 great weeks in Phuket.
Stayed at Salathai the first week. Great hotel cant really fault it in any way. Only minor gripe way daytime noise from the Hotel under construction across the road. But the Hotel itself is great Staff very friendly and helpful plus Wireless Internet access in your room. The maids are wonderful as well no matter what time you get out of your room in the morning the its cleaned within an hour of you returning back. No hassle about bringing girls back either.
Unfortunately I only booked for a week and was unable to extend my stay so went down to Patong Villa and took Bungalow 319. When the Boss is around the Staff behave themselves however when shes gone ie evening they will try anything on to earn a bit extra income on the side. I was even asked if was interested in a girl on my second night!
After five nights they asked me to pay a balance and so I did for 3 days had already given them 2 days advance and got a receipt from them this was in the evening. After another three days the daytime receptionist asked me for further money. Ok I’ll pay you for the 3 days and she says no I have to pay for 6 days either she had misread the Screen or the other lady had not keyed it correctly on the system. I tried to explain to her Id already paid and she said “I don’t believe you show me the receipt”. So I went to my room and retrieved the receipt and showed it to her but got no apology from her.
On the day before I was due to leave I settled by balance for the room. The next morning I walked down to reception to check out and got the stuff out of my Locker. My bags and girl were still in the room. So they sent the guy to check the rooms Minibar. I said to them whilst hes doing that Im just going to pop down the road to exchange some money. Next thing I know the Security guards following me down the alley. Then I lost it and went back to the manager and complained. Told her Im not going to run off without paying a measly sum of 400B. In any case if they had cared to look I still had all my belongings in the room and was not at all happy to be treated like a criminal.
The Hotel itself is fine. Bugalows are big and clean and all the other staff are friendly and the Boss is a nice lady. No problems whatsoever with bringing girls back. Its just that they have a couple of dodgy receptionists. I don’t want discourage anybody from staying there but given the choice Salathai would always be my first option.

You should've asked to speak with the owner, Surasak. He is good guy and would've set things straight. Best to sort out problems there and then. If the owner doesnt know, he cant fix anything.
He doesnt read this board.

I thought the opposite. The problem with incoming emails to the PV is that Surasak deals with them himself and not reception, that is why they can take a little longer getting back to you as Surasak isn't constantly at his PC. Hey! It's Thailand, they've all got better things to do! 5555555
Didn't have any problems with reception while I was there, alway attentive, always awake during the night and actually at the desk. Always picked up the phone within a few rings, always smiling, helpful and fun! Everything this BM needed anyway!
