Good place to stay with wife and 3 yr old son

Hi,

I've been to Thailand several times over the years but this is the first time I will be traveling with to Phuket and bringing my family with me. I was wondering which hotels would be good to stay at for around 2,000 bht a night starting at the beginning of February.
I've been looking at staying at a new hotel there called "Baumanburi". I think it opened just a couple of months ago. Does anyone know if this is a good place to stay and if it is in a good location for a family to stay at? I want to be relatively close to where everything is but not close enough that my wife really knows why I was in Thailand so often.
Actually they will be staying for a week and then heading back. I will stay for an additional week.
Is Patong beach okay with a family or are there other places more family friendly? Any advice about things to do with children as well would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'd personally recommend these two:
www.tharapatong.com
www.patongvilla.com

Both are definitely family-friendly, particularly the former, although it's a bit more expensive as well. Both have a nice swimming pool.
If I were you, I'd send them an e-mail and ask for a quote. Most times you can get a 10-15% discount without any problems- all you have to do is ask for it!

Good luck

Hi kimcheese (interesting forum name

I can say that Patong Beach is family friendly and your son will have a good time there. Kata Noi is another nice beach to take the family, about 300baht by a/c taxi or tuk tuk.

Perhaps a speedboat trip to Phi Phi islands for the day.Superb scenery and well worth a trip.

Phuket Zoo would be an interesting place for a 3yr old and makes a nice half day out. Possibly the Cobra show at Wat Chalong may interest him. Its hard to know what 3yr olds like

Thank you for the information. The Patong Villa seems nice. The other one was a little too expensivor for me.
Has anyone ever stayed at Baumanburi or know anyone who has? It seems very nice and not too expensive. I want to book for all nights in advance but would hate to show up and find that the hotel isn't as nice as it seemed. Thanks again.

I can only recommend Patong Villa. Take a look at this thread for some more info http://www.phuket-info.com/forums/ac...low-rooms.html

It's a nice hotel with a good location, friendly staff and nice pool area. It is close to nightlife but still far enough away so you dont hear music etc. at night.

I was thinking of taking care of the accomodation with the family before going and then switch hotels after the they leave. A friend will be arriving the same day the wife and son leave and we plan on spending that week partying it up a bit - which will likely involve some lady friends. I will try to find some half decent (cheaper) accomodation for the second week - any suggestions?
Does Patong Villa allow lady friends without any extra charge? If so, I'll probably rent a bungalow there for the second week and something different with the family. A friend of mine was there during the summer and stayed at K-Hotel. He said it was pretty good. Would you recommend that place?

Thanks again for the information.

Most definitely. Anyway, just for your own peace of mind, send them an e-mail (prior to booking) and get that in writing. Better safe than sorry
