Tuk-tuk fares
Before the tsunami, nearly all tuk-tuks in Patong had a list of fares displayed in the vehicle for passengers to see. Having visited Patong again I have noticed that the lists are no longer there and that the price of a journey outside of Patong varies from tuk-tuk to tuk-tuk, sometimes by as much as 150 baht. Surely the fare should be the same regardless of which tuk-tuk you use.

“All tuk-tuks must display a list of fares for passengers to see. I always check when walking along the streets, and if I find a tuk-tuk that does not have a list of fares on display, the driver is arrested.
If you find a driver who does not display the fares or who ‘traps’ you into paying a higher fare, you can call me at 01-8914335 or call 1584, and we’ll arrest him. ”
