Cathay Pacific Deal from US to Bangkok
$722 -- Fly R/T to Bangkok, w/FREE Stopover in Hong Kong *
Bangkok, Thailand
Travel dates: February 1-April 30, 2006
Top 20 deal - sells out quickly!
Cathay Pacific's December Deal of the Month lets you fly to Bangkok from Los Angeles or San Francisco for $722 roundtrip. Pay just $60 more to fly from New York. Not only is this fare one of the lowest we found, it also allows an optional stopover in Hong Kong for FREE!
Why else do we think this is one of the best deals this week? This fare already includes fuel surcharges, meaning that the only additional taxes/fees are approximately $60. It's also based on departures every day Feb. 1 through Apr. 30, 2006.
book at www.cathaypacific.com
Just add Bangkok to Phuket flights

by free stopover I'm guessing it simply just goes there first anyhow. Try booking it and saying no thanks, you dont want to stop in HK.

all Cathay Pacific flights from US go through Hong Kong.
It does not mean you are forced to stay in Hong Kong, you can if you want to or you can just do the flight to Bangkok roundtrip with no stopover at all, just a plane change in Hong Kong.
It means that they are not charging you extra for staying over in Hong Kong along with Bangkok also.

So they are not charging you extra money for stopping off at Hong Kong, which they do anyway.
All they are offering is a HK - Bangkok flight on a different day to the US-HK flight. Why would they charge you extra for this, every airline does the same thing I thought.

You do not have to stop in Hong Kong if you do not want to, you can use it as a US to Bangkok roundtrip only.
The real point is that the $722 plus taxes fare from the US to Bangkok is a good fare during February to April, whether or not you also stop in Hong Kong.

I have flown Cathay to Manila 4 times in the last 20 months and no problems but I get there about 3 hours ahead just to make sure. The flight that I use to Manila departs at 1030PM from LAX so try to get there by 730PM. Of course I live in LA so that makes it easier.

I will be in NJ just before you head to NYC but come back to California on the day that you head to NYC. Just going over for a short visit with the parents to celebrate family birthdays and Christmas.

Uhhh, some discounted through fares do not allow stopovers. A STOPOVER is defined as where you do not board the next available flight from the stopover point to your final destination.

Thanks Seafox for the heads up on this promotion just booked my next trip for March 20th to April 8th. The promotion just ended yesterday but I called reservations and the guy was able to get me the cheaper fare of $783 (fare just went up to $1,231). I'm going to stay in Bangkok 3 days and then head down to Patong
Thanks again, I'll have to buy you a few beers

Hi Andymon,
Glad to hear that it worked out for you. I should be arriving in Phuket on April 7th, too bad I can't get there earlier. Have a great trip and maybe I will see you here in So Cal sometime.
I just had 4 clients get a great fare on Cathay to Manila also and their deal ends today.
Chris

Thanks for the offer. I will be the semi tanned, stocky guy in glasses with the Heinekin stuck to his lips.
Definitely will be there that night as I get in at 2 or so, so should be at hotel by 330 or so, see how I feel(Maybe a quick soapy to take the road dirt off or a nap), but definitely out the first night to MTB. Get there early to meet Nicke and then see who shows up from there. Should be a decent sized group.

I've found
Horizon air - Spokane - SF
China air - SF - BKK
Return taxes in $680 USD
I'll be there for Songkran
Almost half what I paid for Kelowna - Vancouver - Bkk on Air Canada

Soooongkran
Right on Swift Dave. If you ever are in SF for a layover, shoot me a PM. We can grab a brew. You'll have a great time at Songkran. I've only experienced the BKK version, but it was fun.
I'm thinking about doing the special from CP. I wouldn't mind checking out HK, I've always been curious about the place.
I took myself through the booking process up to the point of transaction. Turns out you can either just change planes OR you can set up a 3 day stop-over there and/or back as well. That's just what I'm looking for.
Now to raise the funds.

China Airlines and Cathay Pacific seem to be competing in terms of lowest airfares from West Coast NA to BKK; sometimes, you can find r/t's on Air Canada for less than $800 but you really have to work hard to pick the "right" dates with them...

EVA also has great rates & better service than China...that was a great deal for Cathay who is usually a lot higher.
