as long as it is not too heavy and you pack it well should be no problem. be advised that some airlines only allow two 50 pound bags now. That goes for all US domestic and some international(definitely all US airlines flying international routes).

22") x 36cm (14") x 23cm (9"). 22lbs
Now, if you can figure out how to get a 27in tv into a 22in package.
They would most likely tell you to check it

If you can get it on, it will not be covered by any insurance and will be loaded at your own risk. Better to send it DHL or something.
But why not buy it at home, I know between Sydney and Phuket there isnt much difference if any at the moment in the prices of TV's, as they have dropped heaps over there.

i am buying it here. i only signed a 1yr contract, although im pretty sure i will stay longer. but in case i dont, i dont want to buy a tv, only use ot for a year, than sell it for 1/2 what i paid.
so if i can ship the tv, ill buy something a little more expensive, knowing i can take it with me, wherever i end up. if not, ill just buy a cheaper one, and try and sell it later.
example: if i can take it withe me, ill buy a 27" flat screen lcd
if i cant, ill buy a 36" sony wega. bigger but cheaper, then sell it for what i can get for it later

Can get a 20" Haier LCD TV here for US$500 or a 32" BenQ (actually pretty good) for $1500.
They catch you bringing in a LCD TV, Customs will whack you for duty, Same on the way back to the states, seems pretty pointless especially considering theres a good chance it will get nicked/broken in transit.
Bring a projector instead.
