how long does it take to get to Patong
For me its about 26hours.
Drive to Airport..........................................2 hours
Allow 1 hour for traffic jams and delay etc.......1 hour
Check in 3 hour wait.....................................3 hours
Flight to singapore........................................1 3 hours approx
Wait for connecting flight................................4 hours
Flight to Phuket............................................ .1.5 hours approx
Arrive Phuket. Passport control, reclaim baggage....1 hour
Taxi to Patong............................................ .....30-40 mins
On top of that we have +7 hours which contributes towards severe jet lag for a few days. Anyone got any good remedies for this !
Whats the longest it has taken any BM,s to arrive in LOS, flight delays , mishaps etc etc.

Takes me, from London, about 26 hours and a week:
1 hour to airport
3 hours check-in/delays
6 hours Dubai
3 hours Arab-watching
6 hours Bkk
1 hour immigration to hotel
7 DAYS f***ing
1 hour airport
2 hour check in
1 hour HKT
2 hour haggling with limo drivers, arrive Patong
- Priceless
If I tried, I could probably shave 5 mins off the dash to the hotel, but the rest is pretty much essential (especially the warm-up week in BKK )

Without the itinery breakdown, it took me 26-27 hours from Birmingham. As IJ said, it was worth every minute of it. If it took twice as long to get here it would still be worth every minute of it! And it is still preferable to a trip to some crappy spanish resort (which my mates all love) which would take less than a 1/4 of that time.

I think my last trip was the longest for me apart from sailing to Thailand with the Navy (which took 10 weeks but some good piss ups on the way!)
I had to go back to UK to see my Dad in hospital and then on to Phuket from there, sooooooooooooo:
Baghdad to Amman to London to Manchester (See Dad, spend 2nd night in my own house this year)
Manchester to London to Bangkok to Phuket (14 nights) Phuket to Bangkok to London to Manchester (Another couple of days with Dad) Manchester to London (Strike is on - 3 nights in hotel at Heathrow) London to Amman to Baghdad!
Just the UK/Phuket leg I would put at around 20-21 hours-ish!
Was it worth it? Oh Yes.

As Richard Dawson says, Good Answer.
It is the departure that takes forever. Too wired to care how long it is going to take to get there as I can't wait to hit the streets on the first night.

For me its either...........
15mins home to SYD airport
40 mins check-in
10 hrs flight to BKK
1.5 hrs wait for connection at BKK airport
1.5 hrs flight to Phuket
40 mins taxi to Patong
= 13.5 hrs
OR
30 mins to Wellington Airport NZ
30 mins check-in
3.5 hrs to SYD
1.5 hrs connecting wait SYD
then as above
=19 hrs
Generally I go back to my appartment in Sydney for a few days before heading out to LOS or heading back to NZ
I agree with the Fox tho' the trip back seems like twice as long!!!!!!!!!!
